When God Makes Cotton Candy

freeimageslive.co.uk

The pensive sun is pondering sleep.

Its brilliance is seconds from perfection.

The clouds appear as wisps of long, fine hair with blond frosted tips.
The sky turns pinkish white first, then the color of fuchsia lipstick mixed with tangerine juice.

The gray-green windows of skyscrapers reflect back
the palette like mirrors.

At each other, at the lake, at me.

Hold your breath.

The world seems serene, and hopeful, and at peace.

And it seduces me into feeling a little this way, too.
When we were children and the sky shone like this?

My mother would whisper to us,

“God is making cotton candy.”

I love cotton candy.

I like the blue better than the pink.

My favourite philosopher (because I have one) Ralph Waldo Emerson once said 'The sky is the daily bread of the eyes.'

Gina, this was as sweet as that treat...as prolific and thoughtful as faith. Your words brought me to that space with you.

Your writing is superb here.

Me, too. That's the color/flavor I pick at the carnival! I'll write another post when the sky is blueberry.

I agree with Ralph. I am also an Emerson fan!

Kir,
You are such a dollface! I was just sitting on the couch thinking about what to write and the view captured me, then took me away with it. It became a very easy write for me. I guess it's about feelings.
Have an awesome day!
Gina
