Christmas Eve

One  of the very best in recent memory if not longer than that if that is possible.

It's Monday, December 7th. What Are You Reading?

Hosted by The Book Date

Have you ever seen the Showtime show “Weeds”? How I loved it! The sexy suburban dealer was Mary-Louise Parker. Not only is she an outstanding actress of the stage and screen (big and little) representing my age range in stellar style, but she has written a so far engaging memoir, which I am currently reading

Amazon.com
This book is in epistolary form (kind of). Parker has written letters to the influential (in one way or another) men in her life. For instance, her father, grandfather, a movement teacher at drama school, a crush, lover, and bestie have been recipients of “letters” so far.  I am a mere 50 pages in.
Mary-Louise is funny, oftentimes naughty, smart as a whip, sexy as hell (Oops, I already said that, but did I mention yet that she is my "girl crush"?), and hippie-ishly quirky. Oh, she can write, too.

I’m jealous.

I kind of want to be her.

Would you mind helping me decide my next read? It will either be A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara or East of Eden by John Steinbeck. Two very different books. What’s your vote?

A Non-Denominational Literary Advent Calendar

It is no secret especially here. I love anything with a bookish bend.

Today over at Book Riot, they shared a literary Advent calendar. It is non-denominational, I assure you, and all about the Christmas feeling. Who doesn't love that?

The first entry, December 1st, is by… No! You go over and find out yourself. Let me point the way.

Enjoy these next 25 days, and sprinkle in a couple of poems, essays, and short stories by e.e. and Wordsworth and many other classic authors. Each day of December, WOO HOO! I CAN NOT be the only one excited!

If you enjoy, please come back and let me know!
