Just Don't Wanna: College Edition, Stream of Consciousness

Today’s Writing Prompt: What are the things in your life right now that you just don’t want to do?

I’ve decided to interpret this Stream of Consciousness prompt a bit differently today and do a “College Edition” since returning from, arguably, the prettiest college campus in the Midwest only an hour ago. If I wait any longer to do it, I will be asleep.

Timer set for five minutes....

**************************************************************

Things I just don’t want to do on a college campus (until next year’s Mom’s weekend?):

I don’t want to do a beer bong at a fraternity house while my son’s brothers are chanting “do it, do it!”. However, I do want to dance and sing at the top of my lungs with all my daughter’s friends (Best new dance song, “Call Me Maybe” ADDICTING… Hey, I just met you,and this is crazy, but here's my number, so call me, maybe?) I also wanted to dance with my son but he declined my invitation and negotiated a time in the future.

I don’t want to do a bar crawl and bump into tons of people and wait in long lines for a bathroom stall to open up.

I don’t want to do shots but I do like tequila.

I don’t want to stay up until 3:00 in the morning but I did.

I don’t want to come home from the bars and order a pizza at 2:15am and have to wait up for it.

I don’t ever want to dip said pizza in ranch dip because all the girls do it. It was sooooo good but wrong in so many ways.

I don’t want to wake up in the morning and look into red, bloodshot eyes instead of clear blue ones.

When my daughter woke up this  morning she said to me “Mom Bloomington successfully kicked your butt.” I shook my head in agreement.

**************************************************************
Can anyone take a guess as to what this is?

So, I'm always interested in learning new things but I thought I pretty much had the whole sushi experience down and well covered. I didn't know this!!!

If I wake up before tomorrow morning, I may do a real version of this prompt.

Because I love sushi and that looks like a sake cup - let me in on the secret. If you did more than one sake I feel for ya!

I'm on the edge of my seat? Do tell!

Drinking like a college kid is one of those things you can do after you turn 30, but you just know you probably shouldn't.

(I had to smile as I type that, remembering what my great-aunt told me this morning, "You've got a lot of your grandma in you. Just don't start drinking like she did.")

Tequila? My goodness! That brings back memories! Well, they aren't actually MY memories, just what people told me about the next day...

Glad that you survived to raise the drink another day!

Even w/bloodshot eyes it sounds like it was worth it. And I haven't the foggiest idea what that is. The only sushi I've ever had is California rolls.

Hey Kenya,
Boy, do I feel so much better after a good night sleep!

It's called a "Sake Bomb". You balance the sake cup as you can see. Everyone lines them up in front of them (there were 20 girls and 20 moms) and yells "Sake, Sake, Sake Bomb" and on "Bomb" you pound your fists on either side of the cup and the sake falls into 1 inch of beer and you drink it. Didn't taste as bad as I thought because I'm not a sake lover. Did two. Only college kids could think of this!

Jen,
Take a look above for an explanation of a "Sake Bomb". Crazy, huh!

Good to be home but miss those little buggers a bunch!

"Shouldn't" is the proper word to emphasis here. "Did" is the actuality of what happen. It's going to take a few days to work myself out of this one.

I love tequila but to properly enjoy it should be the good kind, sipped slowly and not mixed with other hard beverages. Do so, you usually feel just fine the next day. It's the college weekend pace that knocked me out.

Arnebya,
It was a total blast. I danced so much and, of course, you begin to think you're a really good dancer after a couple beers (or Sake Bombs)!

I absolutely love sushi and so do my kids. When they come home, they always ask to go (so we can pay, no doubt).
