Dangling over my tiny village in a Big City is a simply stunning Crescent Moon.
The air is crisp as the bright blue cloudless sky begins to darken.
And it hangs there by an invisible strand.
The perfect example of how the moon should look when it isn't full.
From different angles and different places,
The composition of my photo would create a unique interpretation but somehow a similar one, too.
Lacking a phone or a camera, there isn't a picture of my moon today.
I paused to snap a mental picture.
Oftentimes those stick with me more so.
Then I thought
Is everyone seeing this exact same moon?
Can everyone see it like me?
Everyone who is important to me is under the same simply stunning Crescent Moon.
(Not the Crescent Moon in my village. Mine was so much more perfect)
I just came back from dinner and saw it too! So gorgeous! We are under the same moon ;)
We had a lovely view of the moon here in Michigan, too :) It's so hard to imagine, isn't it? It shines over all of us!
beautiful! it's so funny because just a little while ago as we were walking to our apartment from the car, my son tells me to look at the moon. i was carrying bags of groceries and kinda grumped at him, "why?" he said, "just look!" and i stopped and turned my head and saw that same little sliver. and i had to admit all my grumpiness melted away as i saw the moon. i was expecting a full moon, because that's usually what captures my son's attention, but seeing the moon at that thin crescent shape, a sly cheshire cat's smile...i did have to admit it was quite beautiful. and you saw it, too! we are all under the same moon, even us out here in the middle of the coean. :)
Yes we are and that fact delights me!
I absolutely love the moon. I enjoy thinking it's the same for anyone gazing at it at a particular time and I wonder who is looking at it at precisely the time I am. It's like a blanket over everyone simultaneously. We can all share in its enormity. Love that!
Awwwww! That makes me happy to hear that it took your grumpiness away just as it totally lifted my spirits by simply looking at its beauty. Like your son, I am a full moon crazed enthusiast but this was the most stunning sliver I have ever seen. I love the cheshire smile. Perfect. It makes me think of possibilities.
And that's the part I love. Miles away, in the middle of the ocean, middle of our country, in another country, everyone can see it and appreciate it's beauty and the thoughts it conjures.
I've noticed the moon last night too here in Europe. Starry night and moonlight...
And you're all the way over therrrrrre and you saw the exact same one! Ahhhh..starry night and moonlight...The thought is so romantic!
a bit less romantic with dogs howling in the neighbourhood and werewolf shadows lurking around in the fog, and my cat choosing the eerie moment to freak my out by jumping on my leg from the dark :)
Oh no! Sounds creepy and noisy!
Here it was perfectly quiet. Usually there are trains. I was diving in my little town and pulled over and rolled down my window. I didn't want to move for fear of losing the amazing view. I sat there a few minutes then drove two blocks home. I couldn't see it from my house because of trees so I'm glad I stopped. It continued to be amazing the rest of the night because I walked into the street to check on it!
Sometimes the mental pictures are the best. I still remember a particularly stunning twilight sky from 20 years ago. A photo couldn't have done it justice.
Beautiful. There really is something majestic about the moon, isn't there?
Once it connects with our brain it is permanently imprinted. I'm so happy you have that memory from so long ago. For some reason, this sliver won't be easily forgotten. It struck me.
There truly is. I've been crazy about it for as long as I can remember.
