Reconnecting With Pleasure

What we want you to do this weekend is to give us a 33-word opening line to your book.  That's it.
****************************************

Something about this place; something about them alone in a rented Mackinaw cottage. Blistering heat at midnight seduced Gabby to skinny-dip purely to lower their bodies' heat breaking the awkwardness of their reconnection.

This sounds like an interesting and fun (?) story. The reconnection is a great grabber.

Sure caught my attention. Great job Gina!

Skinny dipping is ALWAYS fun and often leads to trouble when done in mixed company. Reconnecting has been on my mind lately.

Thanks, Tessa!

Write it girl!

I was just thinking the other day I've never been skinny dipping (or chunky dunking in my case). Such a good start to the story!

Gina said...

Kenya, it goes on and on from there!

Gina said...

Do it every opportunity you have! There is nothing like it! Thanks, Jeanna.

Hey Gina! Been thinking about you and how you ARE?!? Better and better I hope :) This is definitely a "grabby" beginning for a story!

Libby said...

Hey, it's Libby...the comments that are just above this from 'yeaokthen.' Those are from me - LOL! My son was on this computer and I did not log him off (sigh).

Gina said...

Hey, Libby. Thanks for clarifying. Not saying I was a little freaked out but...been there done that, too!

I'm great! It's been one month today and I'm doing better than expected. Thanks so much for thinking of me and asking.

Gina said...

Oh and thanks for thinking it's grabby too! My name was almost Gabby, or gabrielle, so that's why I used her here.

Yeah. Breaking Awkwardness 101: Skinny dipping. Yayyyy!
:)

Um, it sounds like 'connecting' won't be too long now! It might not do much to lower their body temperatures, though...

Gina said...

That's right! You should hear what's next but what comes after that is even better!

Gina said...

I sure hope I have the opportunity. LOTS more to tell.

Gina said...

Skinny dipping is the ultimate ice breaker! No choice but to move forward from there.

Gina said...

I know for a fact that being in the water lowers "actual" body temp but might not reduce the " heat" of the situation. But I din think they really wanted that. It was just an excuse to be close.

Definitely want to know more about this reconnection...there are always extra layers to a reconnection as opposed to a new connection.

Gina said...

I would agree with you there on the difference of a reconnection. These two have a very loooong history together and way too much "heat" to handle.

Sounds like a hot and steamy romance to me!! I'd keep reading.

Definitely gets the interest by raising some questions. Why the awkwardness? Why there? Why reconnecting?

According to Mags... said...

It leaves me with lots of questions. Mainly what's the reconnection about? Great job!

Anna :o] said...

Excellent grabber - I want to know all about the reconnection too!

I totally agree with you on both points! I saw your post about your life changing event. I hope you are well now.

Gina said...

I'm doing great! Thank you for asking. Life changing only in that my accident left me realizing how fortunate I was and how fragile quality of life truly is.

Gina said...

It sounds like it's off to a good, hot and steamy start. Thanks!

Gina said...

Years spent apart (or maybe age difference?). Special place to both? A phone call brought them in touch again? All kinds of possibilities!

Gina said...

Lost a one true love years ago maybe. Timing right (or still wrong) now? Thanks, Mags.

Gina said...

Thanks, Anna! Gave it a shot. Love reconnecting with special people!

Megan said...

Ooh, I definitely want to read more!!!

The phrase "blistering heat at midnight" is just great; if you mean Michigan, that must be one heck of a summer!

Gina said...

Good, good!

Gina said...

The Midwest has been blasted with heat this summer. The only way to contend with it is seeking water. Yes, Mackinaw is in Michigan.

Sandra said...

Sounds like an intriguing romance in the woods! Go and get reconnecting!

A friend of mine recently sent me a short story to proofread. In it, she has two middle-aged adults who reconnect and end up unclothed in a spring. This reminded me of that, obviously. I like your comments, encouraging people to try skinny dipping. :-)

Thanks for linking up this weekend. Hope to see you back again soon.

I really love the name Gabby. It makes me think of a funny and funky kinda girl. And it's not overused. (I've encountered a lot of Emilys and Emmas in stories lately.)

There is something very liberating about skinny-dipping. Haven't done it in decades. :)

Cameron said...

Blistering heat and reconnection. I love it already.

Gina said...

I'm sure they connected the moment they saw each other then again skinny dipping!

Gina said...

Something about people reconnecting and getting naked...

EVERYONE should skinny dip as often as the opportunity presents itself. I've been very lucky there.

Gina said...

That was my original name at the hospital. Then they changed it.

The woman in this story is very fun AND quirky!

Gina said...

Miskmask...go for it!

Blistering Heat + An Originally HOT Relationship = Way Too Much Heat To Handle

thanks!
