I smile, efficiently impersonating someone who’s listening.
“Shut
the F$%K up!” I bellow though
only condensation wafts through the biting air. Words, no.
So
you continue blindly because
I let you for
now…

In The Scorpio Races,
author Maggie Stiefvater writes, "It is the first day of November and
so, today, someone will die." Give us the next thirty-three words of
this story, as you imagine it. Take it wherever you like, but make it
original and make it 33 words exactly.
I have also committed to NaBloPoMo (almost sounds obscene) over at Yeah Write which means writing a blog post every day in the month of November. I did it last year. It was fun and intensely challenging and the result was I actually loved writing even more. So here I am again. Please, please, please visit me!!!

I love how the ending states you allow them for now to continue rambling! Powerful writing. The challenge for Yeah Write sounds interesting. I may check it out. :)
Wow, somebody has worn out their welcome. Good job, I could feel the contempt.
Thanks, Donetta. I'm on my last nerve with this particular person. I'm diplomatic and kind. Of course I let her go on but inside I'm screaming "just STFU, would you? Do you know how (stupid and self-absorbed) you sound?" But I would never do it...
Thankfully, it's not everyone and I'm very good at tuning out (and "you" think I'm listening). The older I become, my tolerance for ignorance and narcissism wanes proportionately!
A very chilling quote about today being the day someone shall die. But of course, it's very true. Glad to see your smiling face.
You seem to be so into trifecta! I haven't really done it much. But maybe I an manage 33 words, especially if I'm not sure what to blog about. Here we go!
I love the whole Nablowpomo whatever the hell the initials are thing. Good for writing. Good luck with it, push hard.
For now...That doesn't bode well for the chatterbox;)
I've felt like that before-impersonating a listener all the while wanting to scream! Great 33 words, Gina!
The frustrating thing is this person probably has no clue how close they are to death! I love the 'impersonation of someone listening' - I've checked out of conversations before since my presence wasn't necessary :)
This is how I spend most days, unfortunately. Beautifully done!
It is a creepy-ish quote. I can't wait to be seeing more of you too. Missed you!!! Fractured ribs. Couldn't "tri" this summer!
I love the Trifecta community and I love the creativity it inspires. Get over there. You can manage 33.
I remember last year, by about the 2 week, that those letters flew off my fingertips in the most obscene way. It's good for me, my writing. Gets me in the mindset and swing of things. Gets my nose out of the pages for a bit too (not that my nose in pages is all bad except when it's at the detriment of things I should be doing). Going to give it a good try. Tricky!!!
My friend, who is on the same page as me re: this, thinks if I keep saying it enough on the inside, I'm going to accidentally actually say it. I would probably freak out if those words came out of my mouth. They are not like me (on the outside) at all.
I do a really good "Uh hum". Thanks as always, Valerie.
I love that. "Gleefully harsh"! It's how it was meant!!!
Thank you!
No a single one...
I tune out all the time. Sometimes I feel rude/guilty. Other times, it's what keeps me sane. Or borderline sane. And yes, it's easy to tell when our presence isn't necessary.
The older I get, the more I do. Unfortunately! Thanks, Tina.
This is great work!
They do. They keep freaking talking until someone drops an F bomb. Then they act like you're the one with the problem. :-) Thanks for linking up, Gina.
Thanks, Draug!
You know, it would be like throwing a grenade in the conversation, and I'm enjoying the idea of that, if someone actually dropped the F bomb. Unfortunately, the "real" (or maybe it's the "unreal") me would never do it. You're welcome!
I would not like to be on either end of that conversation... for now.
*shiver*
But yes, oh, how I have been there!
People!I tell you sometimes one can hardly contain oneself-I am more violent I feel-so cussing won't do-maybe bashing their stupid heads will..lol!Strong writing Gina:-)
Oh yes, the conversations that boggle and bewilder me. Getting "mouthy"" isn't always a bad option. ;)
strong writing my friend.
I've been bitchy lately. Best for all to stay away ;-) Not really!
Thanks, Atreyee! I don't bash. I keep it too myself but my friend warns that one day the words will slip out. I'm afraid she's right. But she usually is right if it comes to knowing me.
Sometimes I wish I could be "mouthy".
Thanks doll!
