I Won't Miss...

I must remember
the
things I won’t miss
like
the way autumn paints in sienna and crimson,
sun warmed skin on an Indian summer afternoon in October,
smelling brisk wind whisking through freshly fallen leaves,
or
sweater weather,
biting into a Honey Crisp covered in caramel,
pungent bonfire smoke
or

seeing my breath for the first time this year,
single snowflakes escaping,
reminding myself I don’t miss you.

*****************************
This word was freaking HARD (and I probably didn't even get it right)!

33-333 words for the third definition of Remember:
3 a :  to keep in mind for attention or consideration    b :  REWARD <was remembered in the will>

I really loved this. It was so well written I could picture the scene in my head. Ty for sharing.

Thanks, Michelle! Fall is my favorite season/time of year. There's a lot if things I will miss about it. It makes me happy you can picture what I mean.

The last line, after all those things you don't want to miss is powerful. Love is like that...and releasing yourself from it is.

as always I really enjoyed the way you painted the sky and the colors of autumn for us.

This is spectacular. Fall is my favorite too!

Thanks, Sam! I love the fall and I will miss it dearly as I do every year. Yesterday it snowed and when that happens it's the beginning of the end for my favorite season. Bitter today.

And I think you are very kind!!!

Hey, I miss you! I will re-comment on your comment to my comment on your story yesterday!!!

Been extremely busy. Good busy. But crazy busy. Hardly time to write (or think). I promise to visit more often!

The way you paint the way autumn paints is lovely. I like the way you turn it around in the end. Very nice, Gina.

I like what you did with this, Gina. And I would agree - that definition of remember was a tough one!

I loved the imagery here -- made me want to get outside. And the clarity of the images made that sense of missing someone so much more concrete. Well done.

I love the talking-yourself-out-of-something voice.
I miss fall in New England - haven't seen one in 30 years!
Thanks for painting me a bit of it.

Thanks, steph!

Yes, it was. I tossed it around and around to the point that I almost didn't write anything.

You understood this precisely, Annabelle. Thank you.

Thanks, kymm. I have lots of practice talking myself out of things (no problem whatsoever talking myself into things, or being talked into things).

You poor thing not seeing fall in 30 years. This year, this fall, has been stunning in Chicago. I miss it more as I witness more transition every day.

oh Gina! This is such beautiful writing-loved the rich texture-it was sheer delight to read this:-)Though there is really no "Fall" season over here in India but I love the Fall scenery I have come across in movies, books and of course the net-maybe someday I will see it too:-)

Fall is my favorite, too. It's just kind of starting over here. Maybe you could just chase it around the globe? :-) Thanks for linking up.
