Wine or
Coffee, Coffee or Wine…That is the Question.
I have a
significant number of vices and probably several I don’t even know about or
refuse to acknowledge. I have my friends to remind me of those things so there’s
no need for me to keep track of everything about myself! They do a fine job!
Some
people may look at vices, in general, as a negative trait when considering a
person. I would never do that to any of you! I will not even utter the “J” word here,
or EVER, because I distain it more than just about anything. Judgmental people are at the
tippy top of my list of pet peeves. You
are you and I’m not you so have at yours while I continue with mine!
My two
absolutely favorite vices are wine and coffee (most people know this about me
already). I love, love, love them both so it has taken a lot of thought over
the last 24 hours to decide/determine which one I would rather divorce if the
screws where turned. They both make my toes curl, in wonderful but very different ways.
I
actually did a little self reflection and research on a website to help me make
this important personal decision and not that I have any plans to do so.
Wine is Proof God
Loves Us and Wants Us to be Happy by Benjamin Franklin
(I’ve
used this quote before and it’s no lie! If he said...)
But then,
I found an equally compelling quote about coffee that summarizes my feelings very
well.
Things I love about
coffee:
Coffee is hot
Coffee makes me
excited
Coffee is good
enough to have every day.
Coffee smells good
Coffee makes me
nervous sometimes
Coffee gives me warm
and fuzzies
Even when coffee is
too strong or too weak, it’s still good.
When I
think back historically about my relationship with both of these liquid gold
drops of goodness, I realize that one WAS rather easy to give up and the other
impossible so I didn’t.
One gives
me a headache if I drink three glasses and the other gives me a headache when I
don’t.
Therefore,
if push came to shove and God forbid it ever does…
I can’t stop
drinking the coffee. If I stop drinking the coffee, I stop doing the standing
and the walking and the words putting-into-sentence doing.
Drink Coffee…Do
Stupid Things Faster with More Energy!
That is my
final answer…Coffee; I’ve never been able to give it up and I never will. Wine is a
very close second for me because…
For instant happy
woman (me), just add wine!
BUT, Step
away from my coffee and no one gets hurt!

type)
The concluding
thought that puts the cherry on top is I'd always share my wine with anyone. Go ahead, have a sip. However, back off my perfectly golden goodness or I might snip. That’s how I knew by which
would make me angry living without or having someone touch.

5.) What is the one ‘vice’ you
can’t give up? (inspired by Mommalogues)

Won't ever see me give up coffee. It is my mistress.
That's what I discovered through self reflection as well.
Jose Cuervo is my boyfriend. I occasionally make him suffer and don't visit with him, but it's not often. I used to try to drink coffee, to feel a part of the Stepford Starbucks clan. But after I added so much sugar, sweetener, creamer, sugar, flavoring, and sugar it just never seemed worth the effort.
Jose is a friend of mine as well. I have totally boycotted our Starbucks. All the Real Housewives of my town (except Susie) frequent it and it's become a see and be seen place plus the coffetastes burnt to me. I only go to the small family owned coffee shop around the block from my house.
I don't know why someone would want to give up wine or coffee. They are both wonderful!! The sad part though is I'm a bit picky when it comes to both...I know what I like and that's what I want.
Megilon,
You and I am very much alike! At my age I feel that I can be a bit picky. Thanks for visiting.

I saw the title of this post out of the corner of my eye. That's tell you that I'm drawn to coffee and wine. And I was looking for M&M's as well. Here's a funny for you. I made a recipe that called for Chardonnay. I'm not a white wine drinker because it gives me a headache off of one glass. So I said, I don't want to open a whole bottle for a recipe so I bought a FOUR pack. Yes a four pack of something cheap. I drank one bottle last night. Woke up with the headache like I would have by noon if I hadn't had coffee. So I take Aleve, have my coffee. Then later in the day cook my recipe and use about 1/3 cup of the wine. Of course I have to drink what's left in the that bottle. And then why did I drink the last two bottle after that. Do you think if I have a cup of coffee right now that would cancel out my headache for tomorrow? Hmmm. I'm going to try it. Loved this post about my two favorite things.
I have the exact same vices! But I agree with you, I *could* give up wine if I had to. (After all, I did it when I was pregnant!) but never ever coffee. Without coffee I would not function. :)
I'm cracking up reading your story...so funny! I'm a little like that cooking with wine. Temptations around every corner? I always joke to a friend that an opened bottle in the frig stares and taunts me.
If you ever figure out if that cup of joe during wine time cancels out the headache for the next day. Please let your friend over here know. Much appreciated!!!
That is exactly when it all came together for me...when I was pregnant.
The headache I get without coffee is horrendous!
Drinking coffee, reading this and nodding :)
Yep...a simple pleasure!
Thanks for the visit, Stasha.
