Kitzbuhel and the Alps at night, skytracer.com |
Opposing Vail,
Newlywed wives planned instead a cheap flight to Kitzbuhel’s slopes.
Spilling every last drop on Austrian cobblestones,
And reimbursing broken bed fees,
Naught remained for keepsakes.
Life’s memento arrived 9-months later.

That was a fun read!
Ha! :) What a surprise been must have been!
Wow. I loved this one! Great story! So sweet about the baby at the end. That's a really, really nice story. *smiles* I really enjoyed this one, Gina :D
Heheheh. The Alps win again!
Go newlyweds wit yo bad selves! LOL!
Broken bed fees. Lol. That'll teach you!
Terrific!
Loved the broken bed fees. Great post.
so cool! this must be such fun writing!
You did it! I'm going to at some point but this is crazy weekend - Single Mom and I have to decorate and get the cards out!
there's something in the Austrian air...
Yes it was! Our own little Weinerschnitzel!!!
Thanks, Scriptor! It was a an adventurous and fun ski trip andmy first to Europe. Yep! She came along 9 months to the day!
Thanks!
Thanks, Ruby. I gave it my best shot :-)
Yes! The Austrian Alps owned me in more ways than one!
We'd been married 11 months and used our last $$$ to reimburse the innkeeper. We are reminded of it often by these friends.
Back in the "wild" days, Kymm! It taught us to have more money with us on crazy vacations in case we broke another!
Thank you, Bo.
Makes for a funny tale now. Back then...not so much. No spare money for such negligence ;-)
It always is fun to write short stuff!
I didn't think I'd get it in before I left to go out of town. Decorating and cards take many hours. I've done the cards and half the decorating. Have to get my act together.
Or in the bier! It's strong. That might have had something to do with it!!!
A honeymoon souvenir? The 'broken bed fee' line made me laugh.
The innkeeper was upset and kept saying it was a new bed when we arrived. We looked at each other in disbelief but paid her to replace the broken slates. I swear... But our friends get a kick out of saying we truly broke it. I still don't think we did ;-)
This is so sweet. Naught remained for keepsakes. I love that line - and then its followed by an even better one. Nice, Gina.
That's one glorious souvenir! Nice, Gina!
Gina, this is great. I love this. I'm kind of angry that this is community-judged, and I'll have to trust everyone else to love it, too. :-)
Thanks, Stephanie. Yep, we blew it out. Spent every last nickel we brought. Surprise, surprise!!!
The gift that keeps on giving 22 years later :-)
Thank you so much for saying that! You made my morning, Trifecta!
