Nat’s
first “grownup” place was a fourth floor walkup studio.
The
radiators knocked, lead paint peeled off windowsills,
A whiff
of bug bomb permeated the hallways,
To her, it was “home”.
She’d grow accustom to the scattering when the lights turned on.

Uh, no. It's time to leave lol great post
I think that's my old apartment!
This was a very visual story. Ew to scattering when the lights come on!
But it is great rent in the hippest neighborhood!!!
One of mine, too. Just have to love city living!
Eww is right!
I feel like there's something crawling on me now, Eww : )
Gross, gross, gross.
Have you seen the movie "Joe's Apartment?" This reminded me of that.
Your imagery is spot on. You drew me in, and now I want to hear more of this story. Karen
I've missed your blog! Love this little description, it takes me back to kitchens in NYC, ha!

Oh, jeez, that's something I'd never be able to grow accustomed to. Though when I was living in Russia, I did get used to the roaches living inside the ovens and ranges in the dorm kitchen. *shudder*
Roach motels work better than you would think. It's amazing what we can tolerate or get used to. Good write.
You get accustomed to the scattering, it's kinda comforting. Like a dog wagging its tail : )
Haha. Great take, Gina!
Good one! What a creative take on the prompt~
such a great take on the prompt, written with wonderful imagery.
Gina, I loved this (and was about 21ish again!)
:)
Shudder! I have lived in India with some crawling species on a regular basis. This reminded me of that... great take on the prompt, very real.
Lovely writing and icky bugs!!
UGH UGH UGH!
Ah,roaches I guess? We face them every night and I know most women are terrified of them:-)Good one Gina :-)
Makes my skin crawl just thinking about it! Well done, Gina
I just moved into a house that a hoarder lived in for 30 years. Had the exterminator out the first day. Went through two weeks of finding dead roaches on the floor every morning. Talk about disgusting!!! Had him out again. I think they've moved on now. I still haven't unpacked the kitchen. Gross, gross, gross.
Oh boy! That would be disgusting! Good luck evicting them. I think you can knock them out though. I am moving shortly, and we've very much felt like Hoarders, minor Hoarders, but still Hoarders. It feels great to get rid of, donate, and sell all the "stuff". Trying to move towards a more minimalist environment going forward. Thanks for visiting, Marcy.
