It’s
like a train wreck, or an accident; something weird and strange that you
shouldn’t find scintillating but you do and you can’t help it. And I can’t stop
staring at it hanging simply from his left nipple like a delicate horseshoe.

I turned on? Or revolted? It’s not like I haven’t seen one before. Both, maybe,
but fascinated and stirred are befitting descriptions too. He completely owns my attention.
Dutch,
most likely, because this is a Dutch island. Definitely exudes
European though. Early 40’s, I’m guessing, with a pleasantly attractive face that's slightly craggy in a Tommy Lee Jones way.
Artificial blond highlights grasp at the tips of his brown hair. Hazel eyes, probably. His body is fit as a swimmer's with long muscles, narrow waist, broad-shoulders.
And
a nipple ring.
Of course, I’m watching as he applies lotion. Though he lays facedown when finished, which somehow disappoints me but then tugs at his short, plaid swim trunks until the first curve of his muscular ass is exposed. Minimization of tan lines, I get it.

won’t take long before the sun bakes anything it touches on an island close to
the equator. And it doesn’t.
Wiping
at his brow with tanned fingers, he slips into the ocean. My eyes squint to see
his body’s reflection cut smooth stokes through its crisp brightness. Cooling
off from the sun’s merciless intensity before slowly ascending the wood steps
directly in front of me.
My
daughter wakes from her nap on an adjacent chair and asks,
“Mom,
what do you keep looking at?”
“Whatever,”
I reply, flipping my hand as if it were nothing.

Good descriptions. I can just picture this guy. I don't know how I feel about a nipple ring either. I'm glad he's not craggy in a Keith Richards kind of way.
I am speechless. I think I would be repulsed and turned on.
Nipple rings make me squeamish (I mean, ouch!) but I enjoyed reading about her intrigue :)
Thinking about it then and there, I wasn't attracted to him; not my type at all. It was a strangely fascinating thing. No, not craggy like Keith. Just slightly so. Still kind of creeped out by it. I know it hurts like hell to get. It was just hanging there...
I was definitely both and I couldn't look away and not because he was this amazingly good looking man either. Weird stuff!
Just the thought of the process if getting one makes me want to grab mine and protect them! Yikes!!! It was a very intriguing experience.
Wow, this is a cool and intriguing story and I love how the prose reads like poetry. You really captured the inner conflict and those mixed feelings. I'm thinking of doing something for this week's challenge but I'm still mulling. No concrete idea yet. BTW, I'm guessing you were on St. Martin? Been there many times. Very cool place.
I was conflicted! It made me a little sick but excited too. Strange. Do something lumdog!
We were on Bonaire off the coast of Venezuela. Very fun and sleepy island (except on NYE). Nothing to do but scuba dive and hang out reading (two of my favorite things to do on vacation).
What great descriptions of this character. And love your reaction as well! Whatever...
Thanks, Kelly! My daughter did actually ask me that question and I didn't feel like explaining what I was thinking (she would have been repulsed!). I said, "just looking out at the water, sweetheart."
Girl! You do know how to set a sexy mood! I want to know more!
I agree with Tina! There may have been mixed feelings going on but, it read more sexy than repulsed to me. You write sensual very well. You had me from the title. :)
Well, he finished tanning (it was very hot that day) I was in the shade)), packed up his bag and strolled down the pier twirling his keys disappearing forever. No lie.
It felt just this side of creepy to me. Thanks, Tina!!!
I'm openminded so I was not revolted in the least by it just extremely curious and definitely intrigued. Fascinated, first, because I KNOW it hurts to have it done so I was trying to figure that out then I started really looking at him and this is where it went. Thanks for the compliment, Tom. I couldn't think of any more appropriate title ;-).
Love her and I'll have what she's having. Lol
Love your comment and being a fly on the wall sometimes. Some of the craziest times I've had were spent spectating something.
I once worked for a guy who had two nipple rings. It wasn't obvious unless he wore a T-shirt. Every time he did, it was distracting.
Oh, yes! Very distracting! A kid I know (he's an adult now and married with kids) did it at 18 when he graduated high school. He tried to hide it from his conservative parents until the summer day we were all sitting together and it started bleeding through his white tee-shirt. Didn't go over well. Also, his intent was to pierce both but the first one hurt so badly that he couldn't go through with the second even after severe peer pressure. No thanks. And I've told my kids how bad some piercings hurt (my only leverage).
Enjoyed reading your nice descriptions :) I have started loving these things now ;)
Whatever. So that's what it's called now???
Hahaha. Love her oggling, Gina. Fantastic.
Thanks, shadow! You mean nipple rings? You've started loving those? Not me, I'm afraid; my preference is still ringless!!!
It's either "whatever" or explain. I wasn't about to explain no matter how openly I talk with my adult daughter ;-). I love to peope watch. Thanks, Kymm.
Yep, I agree with Tom and Tina. This was great - sensual, intriguing, and the internal conflict only added to it. I loved this, Gina!
Thank you, Jo-Anne!
Thank you so much. If only all internal conflicts turned out harmlessly sensual...
haha this had me smiling.
That makes me happy!!!
I've felt tug of attraction/repulsion before and I don't like it because I don't understand where the emotions comes from. Nipple ring-ugg, but now as for the rest of the package...
Gina, this was such a sexy little piece of, piece of, piece of...writing;)
I cringe every time I see a nipple ring. I just can't imagine going through the pain for that. But to each his own, right?
