When She Got Grounded...

Written for trifectawritingchallenge.com with the prompt “rule of three”.

When she got grounded she…

pushed their car down the drive in neutral to escape.

pierced an extra hole using ice and potatoes.

packed up her car, drove to school, hardly going home.

  1. Fact or fiction? Ouch to the ear piercing.

    1. Fact. Parents didn't allow ear piercing so I did it with a friend, same one who I took the car for a joy ride with at 15 and at night. However, I had a great family and always went home.

  2. Sort of reminds me of me. Not the piercing! ;) Nice take on the prompt!

    1. No piercings, lumdog? That's a good thing! High school was a pushing and testing ground for me growing up in a very structured and strict family especially because I was not structured and very free spirited. Thanks for liking.

  3. Ah, those teenage years. Thankfully I didn't have to potato and ice it; I think I would have been too cowardly anyway!

    1. It still HURT!!! But that was the only way I was getting them pierced. I got grounded on top of being grounded for that! I talked my way out of so many groundings, though.

  4. Oh the ice and the potato really threw me until I read the comments. That must have been some night!

    1. The car incident was at 15 and the ear piercings were at 16, went to college at 17 so that was that. Came home for holidays. Spread my wings and sowed some oats in college!

  6. The ear piercing made me cringe. I'm WAY too wimpy to even consider trying that! You must've caused a fair amount of gray hairs during your teen years :)

    1. I believe I did cause my mom to gray a bit. My dad traveled so it was all her. Poor thing. She always said I'd get payback. I didn't during my kids high school years but summers now have been more challenging since they've been away at school.

  7. Ear piercing! I went to get one in fever because my sister and cousins were getting it done. I enjoyed your post.

    1. I begged for years. Got the first ones in high school with their blessings. The extra two they said no but I did myself...in the basement while grounded.

  8. This made me cringe cuz I tried to pierce my nose with only ice and a needle as a teen - even though my parents never forbade me from doing it anyway. Ha.

    Loved this.

    1. Thanks Yve. Yikes! I can't even imagine the pain of a nose piercing because I thought the second holes in my ears hurt. Strange how my parents allowed somethings like attending stadium rock concerts and forbade other things. I never liked the word "No" and it was always a problem!
