Stream of Consciousness Using Only Thumbs!

Have you ever loved something that you became slightly more than a little devastated when it went away? Me too! That's why I am so thrilled Fadra reconstituted Stream of Consciousness Sunday. And even though my computer is still fried (still because I haven't taken it in, still because I am nervous that it is irreparable and will cost me bunches), I am typing my thoughts, yet again, on my phone. You get a few less words, by the way, committed to screen using merely your thumbs even though mine are quick thumbs. The upside is auto-correct in equal measure to the downsides from the same feature. Who knows what this will actual say because one of the rules is unedited. I won't go back and check!

I don't have much to say today, at least nothing terribly important. I feel light-hearted though, and that is always a sweet way to spend the day, especially one with nothing terribly important to do.

I'm digging the heck out of two books I'm reading. Shall I share? Yes, I will. Department of Speculation by Jenny Offill. I'm about halfway through and She's just nailing what if feels like as a mother, and wife, of a small child. The story is told in (usually) related and clever snippets. Different! The other is The Woman Destroyed by Simone de Beauvoir. I am just in the first, of three stories, but it but it is intense.

How are you spending your day? Is it snowing by you? It is here. Nasty day but there is a plentitude is pages to read, movies to watch, and a full DVR. I like days like this. Do you? When there is no real pressure to do anything.

Five minutes, thumbs only, unedited.

Fadra! Thank you for bringing back one of my favorite things to to on a Sunday! Visit allthingsfadra.com and participate so we can read what you're pondering on a Sunday even if it's not much of anything at all! Like me.

  1. Oh winter in NC isn't anywhere like it was last year. Last year our snow days were so inconvenient because we were in the middle of renovating our kitchen. I'd welcome one of those days this year - a veg out day when there was no need to get up early or do anything in particular. Something about a beautiful sunny day that makes it feel like you need to accomplish something. Glad to see you here for the SOC! Let's keep it up.

    1. It was just a dusting with the "real" storm turning south of us. I like watching snow fall. It's peaceful! I wish you one at a more opportune time when you can "far niente" or do nothing! Or whatever you feel like doing. I agree with your observation of bright and cheery weather. We are definitely going to keep it up!!!

  2. If I'd tried that, there'd be a LOT more spelling mistakes.

  3. Oh how I wish I had your day! Weekends seem to never be relaxing. It's always some disaster in the house I'm trying to get under control. This weekend, though, was filled with birthday fun for my son. I'd love a day, though, with no agenda but reading, relaxing, and watching movies.

And yes, I've done a few posts on my phone and it feels like a LOT of typing for what amounts to a little bit of text! So glad you could join in today!

    1. Our house used to be the same way particularly with one kid who waited until the last minute to have everything done for school on Monday! Or whatever his issue was! All good though. Fun for you with the birthday celebration! I will order you a day like I had yesterday for the very near future. My gift for starting SOC back up again!

I'm thrilled to be apart of it even if phone posting kind of stinks!

  4. Hey -- did my comment no show up?? I'm reading Jojo Moyes One Plus One and Jodi Picoult's Leaving Time. A mystery mother/daughter involving memory and elephants. interesting. I'm kind of fascinated how Brit Moyes and the Aussie Liana Moriarty (read her two last) have taken American chick lit by storm) wondering what the magic formula is? Great strong voice, v. likable flawed main characters. Any who? You must read more than me -- I'm jealous. I usually fall into a coma after a few pages at night. One thing that has helped is being able to read on my phone when the menopausal me wakes up at 2 a.m. And one gift of the dreaded elliptical in winter is that I do read while laboring through my 30 minutes. Love your writing girl. I know I'd love a book you'd write.

    1. Sorry! I hate when that happens!

I'm really trying to read more, which my hubs might not understand. It takes some focus and the right kind of time. I've been setting down books whose story lines aren't captivating me to pick them back up later. I've read a few of Moriarty and have enjoyed them. I picked back up Lila by Marilyn Robinson. It's good, slow so far, but fabulously written. Finished Dept. Of Speculation yesterday. Absolutely loved it!!!! So different and sharp!

Thank you for saying you'd read me. You will be among the first I will send something to for sure!
