Monday Listicles: Really. I Have No Intention To...

I’ve fallen out of my Monday Listicles routine over the last few weeks. I think I’ll blame the holidays one more time for throwing a wrench into things. No really. I did enjoy the holidays but I’m definitely ready for some good old-fashioned nothingness. Aren’t you?

Here’s the topic for today. Easy, shmeasy!

10 Things I Have No Intention of Changing in 2013

1. I WILL continue to sing, unfortunately. I’ve been on a karaoke roll recently, having performed twice over the holidays. I can’t sing but I like to dance with a microphone in my hand. Maybe I’d be better at backup?

2. I WILL NOT be giving up my, slightly more than, occasional glass of wine even though I fully understand it’s impact on my body’s reluctance to drop those last few pounds that are nagging me. It’s a cost/benefit, pros/cons thing, in my opinion. I’ll just exercise more and eat less. How about that?

3. I WILL continue to require a workout before I sit down to write. Besides, that is when I come up with my best ideas. It’s good for me for a multitude of reasons.

4. I WILL continue to embrace my inner laziness if that’s what you call my ability to read for hours on end. Sitting on the couch reading is not being lazy. I can definitely show you real laziness. Watching sports is, technically, being lazy, too.

5. I WILL continue to dislike a certain, non-blood, relative in 2013 because she is still not very kind to me. Last year, I extended an olive branch (being the “bigger” person and all) and the year before that I did as well and the year before that… This year? Uh-uh! Don’t even ask me. The answer is “NO”.

6. I WILL still watch my favorite “shows” every night, Monday through Thursday. I feel it's what winter IS for when you live in a cold climate. Watching TV. I’m strictly a three-season TV watcher. And it looks like there’s going to be some really good mid-season series starting. Can’t wait to set the DVR!

7. I WILL NOT stop writing in run on sentences because I enjoy it and they make me feel slightly manic and that’s sort of a fun and exhilarating feeling.

8. I WILL try to keep my blog my secret again in 2013. It’s been really, really enjoyable carving out this one little place of paradise that is totally MINE. Plus, if I tell anyone in my “real” life”, they might look at me funnier than they already do.

9. I WILL continue being myself, or even more myself, this year. Hang on people; you’re in for a ride. So that means silly is going to get sillier. Dorky is going to get dorkier. And, and…

10. I WILL NOT change my introspective nature. I don’t always (hardly ever) share what I’m really thinking. My mind runs off on tangents and I should probably toss breadcrumbs so as to return to my original thought. I'm sorry but I will probably still tell "you" what you want to hear. Sometimes it’s easier for me that way.

There you have it.

I’m sure there are more things I have no intention of changing in 2013. I can think of 5 more right now actually but you will be spared those.

  1. Blogs and secrets- I don't know about that. Look, it is bright and shiny.

See while you looked away I emailed Sister Mary Clarance and told her about your blog. Now all the alumni at your high school will know about it.

    Cue evil laughter. ;)

    1. Have I told you lately how funny I think you are? ;-)

If someone finds out, they find out. No big deal. I'm not embarrassed or concerned about anything I've shared. I feel it would change the way I write is all. I bet they could if they really tried. Just takes a wee bit of investigative work but maybe I'm the only one that does that sort of thing.

    2. Nah, there are more than a few people who spend time researching others. I have had a few stumble onto me, sometimes intentionally but most by accident.

Keyword searches bring in some funny traffic.

  2. I'm with you on the reading and tv watching and wine drnking!

  3. Good for you and I agree with number 2. Amen to that! :)

    1. It's hard not to agree if you feel like I do. So relaxing. Now, pair it with a book and you have close to perfect.

  4. Reading for hours on end? Lots of TV? Yes, please. Great list!

    1. We are very much alike, I'm figuring out! And this is the time of year where I get to do those things...usually.

  5. This sounds like a list of resolutions that I can really appreciate! I don't think you're going to have a problem keeping them. I would make a list like this, but I have resolved to continue not making lists. :)

    1. I'm so happy you appreciate them! These are "like" resolutions but not because they really don't require any thought or stretching or effort on my part. They come easily, dare I say naturally. My "real" list of resolutions is extremely short and won't be shared. They are hard and if I accomplish even a smidgeon of one of them, I will call it a success. Oh, just make an easy list.

  6. I love this, Gina. Mmmm a secret. But, as for #10 I think it might be in my best interest to adapt that and say I need to stop saying just what I'm thinking. Because oh boy.

    1. I don't know why it is but I love me a good secret and I can keep them like nobody's business, too. And I'm the reverse. I'm sure there are people that would rather me say exactly what I'm thinking but that goes against my basic nature so therefore won't change just like that business about run on sentences which I have way too much fun with to stop anytime soon. Plus, I think people want to hear what they "want" to hear anyway and from me they can have that and feel really good about themselves then. JK ;-)

  7. This is a cool list. For me it would be bourbon and I'm always am going to, mostly, say what's on my mind, which accounts for why I write some over the top posts sometimes and why I spilled the beans about my blog to my kids. Which also nullifies another item on your list for me lol! Nice write. BTW, did you notice that your post almost responds to the Trifecta prompt for this week?

    1. I see that now but I've already started something else and this is just for fun but that's just for fun too so I'm going to stick with this for this and that for that. I'm glad your kids know though, lumdog. I think you like that plus you tell a very, very good story either though you tend to throw out the f-bombs in your fiction. Now, I'm really just kidding because you know I don't mind and kinda like f-bombs. Oh, oh! I'm in that crazy manic mood again!!!

  8. I enjoy me a good run-on sentence because it is a great way to release the demons and vent it all in one breath because technically you are still breathing when typing but for someone to try to read it out loud is quite the spectacle and spectacles are a joy to witness because what's the point of life without joy?

    1. Hilarious and probably one of my most favorite comments I've every received because it's like someone understands how I feel, what a run on sentence feels like to me, in the throws of such awesomeness that you can't stop your self and you really don't want to or care to anyway and couldn't even if your brain told you fingers to cease and desist which it is not likely to do because you are getting so much pleasure and enjoyment out of a rant that it feels like a great sneeze or something along those lines!!!

  9. Gina: I bet you never sang Karaoke "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," with a stuffed lion puppet. My first and last attempt at Karaoke. I think you should keep the resolutions that make you happy, run on sentences and all.

    1. LOW! I can honestly say that I have never Karaoked (is that a word?) to that song with a puppet on my hand but the visual of you doing so is fantastic!

I intend to keep myself happy this year, along with those around me. Might be a resolution in there somewhere ;-)

  10. I can't wait for #9! As for #2 I say keep on having your wine. I quit. :-( Headaches started with the white wine and ended with the red wine. Phooey. I say keep on enjoying yours because quitting has changed NOTHING in my waistline.

    1. I eat well and exercise a lot. It really isn't that much of a factor. I'm just not sure how healthy it is. We'll see. Yeah, I hope to go nuts in 2013 just for the fun of it!

  11. I love this. I said "Amen" to number 2. And I love the line about your being a three season TV watcher. But I could most identify with the line about run on sentences. I had a critique class where the instructor was commenting on my sentence structure (or lack of). I felt vindicated when she had to agree that it somehow "works". And I agree. Don't change a thing. We love you.

    1. I knew you'd be down for #2! I don't watch any TV in the summer. I actually don't even turn it on. That's interesting about the run on sentence. Of course, I know I'm doing it but sometimes want the flow. You are always so nice to me and I thank you for that, Jamie!

  13. You know the old saying "Can't sing, can't dance and too fat to fly"...well that's me in a nutshell. I am with you, however, on the more than occasional glass of wine. :)
