The Deal-Breaker

"Reads. Employed. Hot."

Her “must haves" became more loosely defined the longer she online dated.

Soon she’d change employed to part-time, hot to reasonably fit.

Maybe her picture too?

Reads…

The deal-breaker. Definitely.

Check out Trifecta Writing Challenge where this weekend’s rules were:

We want you to give it back to us (based on a poem) in your own words, using your own subject matter.  Describe something that is three different things at the same time.  Oh, and do it in 33 words.

  1. Lol! I love that she can loosen her standards regarding looks and employment, but the guy had better read, or forget it!! Nicely done.

    1. Being on the market and in the online dating scene for a while, she should relax her standards. I'm thinking she has an overinflated sense of self. Maybe it's her not them? Yes. He must read. It's one of her favorite things to do, alone and together!

    2. Never done the online dating thing but a (male) friend has, for years. It amazes me because he has never gotten into a meaningful relationship, let alone, a permanent one. It just seems so creepy, I can't really imagine.

    3. It creeps me out too. I wonder if it's the quality of people he's meeting or if he doesn't really want a relationship. I would think meeting through friends or a common interest must work still work better. But what do I know being "off the market" for 25 years. Probably nothing. Nothing at all!

  2. GAWD, I'm so glad I'm happily married. I have heard horror stories of online dating from my friends. Some of the stories are so darn funny they are movie material!!

    1. I don't actually know anyone who has used an online dating sight but I'm sure the stories are hilarious. Most of my friends are "long time marrieds". We've tried to set up one of my hubby's best/old friends and one of mine. Didn't take. Kind of awkward. I should stay out of it but it was really my husband's idea anyway.

  3. Hot is probably always too much to demand, but it is still nice! Nicely done, as always.

    1. She apparently thinks she's all that if she thinks she can hook a hottie! Hmmmm...If I were her I would have gone with "Nice to dogs and children". Thank you, Tina!

  5. Love it. You got a giggle out of me!

Thank you for your comment in YOUR comments (that you miss when I don't write). That means a lot, and even though I had peeked at the challenge and decided to skip it, your comment challenged me to do it. Thanks! (((hugs)))

  8. I loved this-you made me laugh!

I never did the online dating thing back when I was single, but a good friend of mine met her husband through one of those sites.

  9. Good one. I was just talking with a friend about his experiences in the online dating world. And there are definitely "deal breakers." Nice take!

    1. Thanks. I imagine there are major and minor deal breakers. Haven't given much thought to what mine actually would be. Maybe READS? I don't know.

  12. Wow. To boil online dating down like that? I think I'll have to add my voice to the list of happily marrieds and happy to not have to deal with that! Great job!

    1. Thanks!

I'm totally on "the list". If I were single, I just don't think I'd have the guts for it! Too chicken, I suppose. So I'd sit at home and wait to get set up or meet someone at the market OR the library (did meet someone there once in the city).
