We Lost Each Other

We Lost Each Other

From the beginning,
We always agreed to disagree even though
We were consistently same paging it.
How did this become so huge?
Neither compromising, our choices became limited.
I miss my friend,
Do you?

This weekend's challenge over at  Trifecta is to write a story entitled 'Lost' in exactly 33 words. The word 'lost' can only appear in the title, not your 33 words. Any reference to the TV show could result in another visit to see the editors in the Trifecta offices.

  1. Having friends to disagree with keeps the relationship open to a good debate on a mature level.

    1. I agree. I have a few that I feel very safe doing just that. It's important.

  2. friendships . . . true friendships . . . often turn back around. Here's hoping for that.

    1. You are exactly right, Barbara. I'm not so sure this was as true of a friendship as I once thought. Fingers still crossed!

  3. I have had friendships like this and experienced this emotion. I have also had friendships where I'm always the one budging. Neither one feels great.

    1. We both drew a line in the sand. She didn't want to agree to disagree because she insisted she was right. I wouldn't budge past fifty percent because I couldn't go further.

You are right, neither scenario feels good.

  4. Thanks for linking up to Trifecta this weekend. Ugh. Your story hit me in the gut. I've got one of these, too. You did a great job describing how difficult it is to be stuck. Hope to see you back on Monday.

  5. It's amazing how quickly something small can blow up and destroy a relationship. Yes, there are good friends who I miss terribly for this reason. Thankfully, my husband isn't one of them.

    1. That small, little sticky thing gets big and huge in no time...snowball effect! There were/are reasons why some relationships and friendships don't work or last. This was a perfect example of one that didn't have what it takes.
