They wondered why we didn’t bury you,
or mark your terrestrial spot with granite
so they could make plans they wouldn’t keep.
They should’ve known
You belonged in the water’s waves
hearing the wind’s whispers,
untamed halyards,
and
children's laughter,
not silence.
Really lovely, Gina. Love your water posts!
ReplyDeleteAwww! Thanks, kymm!
DeleteThis is beautiful, eloquent and just WOW Gina.
ReplyDeleteAs I reflect on my dad's passing 18 years ago and the anniversary of Ben's coming up in mere weeks...I love thinking that where both are scattered they are listening to conversations, laughter and hope..
the vivid image of a silent tomb was awesome.
Such good work, such a beautiful tribute to those we've lost.
Ohhhhhh!!! You lost your father so very young. I'm sorry! And I know Ben's anniversary is coming. It is comforting to think about, for me, that those we love are together, laughing, watching all the foolish "life" things we are doing. But mostly being together!
DeleteAs always, you make me feel so proud and excited about my writing. I thank you for that, dear friend!
There are souls who would long for the sound of laughter and the waves of the water. You have an affinity for the water--and it shows!
ReplyDeleteMy life is a lot about water. It's my happy, challenging, serene spot. I like to think of souls being at peace.
DeleteBeautiful, Gina! Just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGinny!!!! Thank you so much!!!
