We’re taught to properly crease, deliberately trace, and carefully cut. Unfolded, mirror images wondrously appear reflecting its perfect completeness. When it tears, because it will, it doesn’t rip symmetrically. Someone always hurts more.

This
was written for Trifecta’s final challenge (tears) using the following prompt:
“There's no topic, no word, just a free write. Go anywhere your
mind wants to travel. Take us there too. Just make it count, leave
your blood all over this page. Thirty-three words exactly. Of
course. We couldn't end it any other way.”
Thank
you, Trifecta, for bringing all of us together. And thanks
to everyone who’s spent even one minute reading the words I’ve written over the
last two and a half years in connection with Trifecta, or otherwise. It means
the world to me.
Oh, Gina, this is so true, and you expressed it so perfectly. I would never have thought of this. Great job! I'm looking forward to reading more of you elsewhere on the 'net. :)
ReplyDeleteHeartbreak hurts more for one person than the other. It's how is goes. Love is so tricky. Thank you, as always, for your kind comments. Is it you doing the "42" thing? If yes, you will see me!!!!!
DeleteIn the words of a popular song, Hearts don't break even.. ;-)
ReplyDeleteAnd for my mushy, romantic heart these 33 words were perfection. Your words are always so poetic.
Gina, I am so happy that I met you through Trifecta, that I was afforded a friendship with a person like you. My life is richer with you in it.
(I'm not going anywhere!!! Xo)
Kir, I don't listen to the radio. What song? It would be one I like if that's the content!!!
DeleteYou are so wonderful to me! I appreciate your visits, words, and friendship!!! I hope you know that I feel the same way about you. I've told you and I will keep it up!!! Come back to Chicago so we can finally meet!!!!
XO back!!!
No matter how careful we are... you are so right, Gina!
ReplyDelete*feels a little unfairly ripped and tattered*
So glad I met you here. I know we will coincide soon : )
Love is like that. I'm convinced someone always loves a little more or a little less than the other. And endings, heartbreaks, hurt like hell. I am so glad to have met you too but I will keep reading every time you come up on my blog feed!
DeleteOof, someone always hurts more. So true Gina. I love your writing. This piece made me think of a song too. One of my faves from an obscure band called The Judybats...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TU7wxPrtfY&feature=kp I do hope to see you around so I can read more of you...

DeleteI just listened. Had never heard it before and I really like that song! Thanks for visiting, momo. I love love and love to be in and feel it. Oftentimes, it comes with doses of pain simultaneously. Or, at least, it does for me.
DeleteWhat a brilliant way to describe a deep truth.
ReplyDeleteAnd what a wonderful comment. C.C.!!! Thank you for visiting.
DeleteSharp edges needs smoothing-yes-you are so right Gina-as writers our rough edges do get buffed and then we evolve as better writers :-) Looking at this piece from a different POV,it also adds a profound meaning to the word relationship-that last sentences cuts deep-ouch!It has been a pleasure meeting you here and I loved where you took us with your prompts,Gina.I wish you all the best in life always and I do hope to meet you in this blogosphere somewhere, someday soon,tc ,love xx
ReplyDeleteI always miss you when I don't see your name on the Trifecta grid! Relationships, of any kind, are the hardest things to understand sometimes. Human emotions and feelings are tricky and we can never truly know what goes on on the inside of someone else (and sometimes ourselves). A friend routinely points this out to me.
DeleteSee you soon, Atreyee! I'm sure of it!!!
Lovely piece, Gina. Hope to see you again soon!
ReplyDeleteKelly, you must be one of the all time winningest Trifectans! Thank you for you kind comment! See you soon!
DeleteA beautiful write on it's own but a fitting farewell to Trifecta.
ReplyDeleteI know great things end, but it doesn't make it easier. My heart broke more than a little this week as Trifecta pulled its doors closed. Thank you!
DeleteNicely done! I love that last line - so true.
ReplyDeleteSomeone always has a little more invested, if even by a smidge! Thanks!!!
DeleteGorgeous, emotive writing -- a wonderful final piece. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your very kind comment, LTBG! Sad to see it "over".
DeleteGina, this is fabulous. Poignant, wise and wonderfully expressed like much of your writing. Thank you so much for all your contributions and this final, gorgeous one.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to miss you.
DeleteWell, thanks!
ReplyDeleteGina, it was clear to me you always put your heart into your writing -- so what a fitting tribute indeed!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Linda!
