(First)
Plop…Plop-Plop…Plop
Salty
spills splash steadily
(Then)
Flutter,
thump-thump, kerplunk
Fallen fresh and fast
(Lastly)
Binding
closes on tear-warped pages.
Never
sadder. Never happier.
More
satisfied, more exhilarated, more awakened
Than before.

This weekend Trifecta's challenge is to give 33 words (exactly) that include among them at least one example of
onomatopoeia.
I like it. Makes me want to read the book.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dude. I think you should pick up a copy.
DeleteOh this is really good. I love how your described the tears falling, then said how and why they fell. Great job.
ReplyDeleteSo nice, Ann! I cry a lot when reading like everything is touching. Thank you!
DeleteLoved this had to read it a few times.. out wit the old in with the new??
ReplyDeleteSometimes love works that way...with books! Yes, already moved on and it feels like I'm cheating on Wallflower. Thank you, Sam!
DeleteI see the inspiration. Very creative, Gina.
ReplyDeleteGood, good! Thanks, Lance!
DeleteWell done with the onomatopoeia!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Draug.
DeleteTime for the next chapter now, I think!
ReplyDeleteI loved this-I thought it was one of the more clever takes on the prompt:) Well done!!
There's always another waiting in the wings to take it's place...
DeleteThank you so much Valerie. Books I love have a lasting effect on me.
I see you went all out with the onomatopoeia. Very graphic use of the technique and a touching piece of writing to boot. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI did go all out. I was up early dying to finish and after I closed the cover then saw the prompt, I started thinking about the anatomy of tears. I always appreciate your kind words, lumdog. Soon, yes? For you....
DeleteI love your description of the reading journey. I haven't read this book, but I've had the experience with others.
ReplyDeleteI don't have this experience every time but books have their way with me. Always! They linger in my mind for a while making the beginning of the next book a difficult start sometimes.
DeleteOhhhh. This is lovely.
ReplyDeleteAnd this is the loveliest comment. Thank you whimsy!
DeleteA story wrapped in a story wedged between the covers of a book. What a great response Gina! :D
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the way you put that, Linda! This comment, from you? It makes my day. Thank you so much!
DeleteThe Perks Of Being A Wallflower.
ReplyDeleteOne of the greatest books I have ever read. I actually felt different once I finished reading it.
Hey!!! I miss you! Thank you for visiting.
DeleteI agree with you. I really wish I hadn't seen the movie last fall. I don't remember it in great detail (for several reasons), which was good for reading purposes. But it's liking walking head first into heartbreak (ache). You know it's coming but you can't remember exactly when.
I feel different today too.
wonderful description of how words on a page can evoke such emotion
ReplyDeleteThanks Jody! They sure can!!!
DeleteBeautifully done. Tears don't sound the same when they hit the screen of a Kindle...
ReplyDeleteFor the most part, I am totally off a Kindle. Just not the same. Thank you so much, Tina!
DeleteI worked as a school counselor in 2004-2006. I made it my personal side job to read all of the new YA fiction and write reviews for it. Perks was one of my favorites. This is a great response to the prompt. Thanks for linking up!
ReplyDeleteIt's a really touching book. I know someone (very close to me) that has Charlie's same sort of spirit. I think that's why I felt it more.
DeleteNice poem! I think I found Trifecta through your blog, so thanks!
ReplyDeleteYes!!! I am so glad you found it and have enjoyed your entries, Jenna!
DeleteGreat, a book to read
ReplyDeleteI really liked it.
DeleteOh Gina, this is so me!I hardly cry in real life but give me a soppy story -book or movie or even a serial & tears come out in a rush!Loved this:-)
ReplyDeleteFortunately (or unfortunately) I am a BIG crier. When I'm really happy, really sad, really touched, really....Well you get the picture!!! Thank you, as always, for leaving such nice comments Atreyee.
DeleteWonderful piece! Great use of onomatopoeia! And way to sum up my relationship with a good book! :)
ReplyDeleteA kindred spirit then! Love it and your comment.
DeleteLove this tribute to books - how the goods ones hang around and get to you.
ReplyDeleteMine linger and hang on for many moons. I love when one is tough to shake. Thanks so much Kymm.
Deletedid you know that I have been known to HUG a book I've loved when I'm done with it. SERIOUSLY hug it.
ReplyDeleteI loved this. :)
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY sweetie, hope your weekend was amazing.
XO
Okay! You are ME! Though I squeeze them.
DeleteThanks, girlfriend!!! You are always so kind to me.
It was hands down one of my favorite Mother's Days. You know, especially with little kids, they don't "go down" as expected or you'd like. This one did so I am very, very grateful and blessed. And yours? I hope it was everything you wanted and then some.
Muah!!!
That doesn't happen with me anymore since I'll all electronic and gadgety, but been there, love this.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kenya. I have given up my Kindle. As much as I love the convenience, I missed real books too much.
DeleteIf you can believe it, I've never read Wallflower. Crazy since it's set in Pittsburgh and you know how I feel about Pittsburgh. I think it's about time for a read...
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you haven't because of Pittsburgh but also because you are young and hip!!! You need to...
DeleteMy coder is trying to persuade me to move to .net from PHP.
ReplyDeleteI have always disliked the idea because of the costs.
But he's tryiong none the less. I've been using Movable-type on several websites for about a year and am nervous about switching
to another platform. I have heard fantastic things about
blogengine.net. Is there a way I can transfer all my wordpress posts
into it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
