Head to Head With The Elusive...

olddognewtits.com

Over the last, I don’t know, several months, I haven’t been as lighthearted as I usually am. So I decided to join in the fun with Mel and Michele with their fun filled Ketchup With Us challenge. Thanks to Lumdog I've committed to flip flops, cutoffs and swimming in a pool of ketchup!

In 57 words or less, tell us about WHO (or WHAT)

you go head to head with every day.

Here’s what I’ve been going head to head with since the middle of NaBloPoMo (Is that even how you write it? Can’t remember anymore.). My 57 words:

 ************************

Slipping in quite elusively, for moments only, then escaping just as quickly.

Leaving me with faint memories and desperate longing.

Calling out to her daily from this very spot.

demanding,
screaming,
cooing,
catcalling even
for her to stay more than a fleeting minute.

She’s like me;

She doesn’t listen well;

And she's being a bitch.

My creativity.

  1. You summed up this process well. I find myself getting so distracted. It's hard not to with so much going on around us. I'm glad you took some time to come have fun with us! We're so happy you're here!!

    1. So happy to have a fun playdate!!! Thanks to lumdog for getting my butt over to you ladies.

I'm distracted, slightly grumpy, under fed and not caffeinated enough. It's a problem.

  2. Well, I'm glad you jumped in. This is so much fun! Love that you've faced this demon. Now you just have to bitch slap that bitch.

To clear up any misconceptions, I wear flip flops and cut offs at the office. I'm much more casual around here.

    1. Yes! I willing jumped into a figurative pool of ketchup and it feels great! Well "she" is still lurking and it's a problem but having fun today has helped. And "she" better watch out. I've a pretty decent right cross!

I was teasing you! THAT'S what you wear to work. Lucky (lum)dog!

    1. I feel like I've been cursed or something. She better behave and come when she's called. Darn it anyway! Thanks, Stacie.

  5. That sounds kind of fun. Might have to check it out for myself. I used to be a lot more lighthearted in my writing too. Now I'm so serious all the time. What's wrong w/ me? :)

    1. I strongly dislike being serious all the time. You suffer from the same syndrome a lot of us grown ups do. Let's get in a time machine, go back to a less serious time but with all the things we have currently. Now THAT would be fun!

  6. Love this one, Gina. So glad you decided to come wade through the ketchup with us. And I can definitely identify. Nothing stifles my creativity more than being TOLD I have to write something on a certain subject NOW. Of course, when inspiration strikes at 3am, I've learned I better get out of bed and write it down because there is not a chance in hell I'm going to remember "the brilliance" in the morning. :)

    Thanks for linking up!

    1. I am so incredibly brilliant at all the wrong times. Pen and paper always close at hand. Some day I'm going to do a post with all the ideas, notes, thoughts I have on the notepad of my phone. This was definitely fun today. I never like being told what to do!!!

  7. So true. I go head-to-head with my cat when I have to give her her meds. But yeah, my creativity is tougher to deal with.

    1. Choking a pill down a 75 lb. Lab is no treat either so I feel you! Some days I'm bursting with it and others, eh! Hopefully, I'm over the hump!

    2. I bet! Some days she'll take it in a treat, then other days she decides she doesn't like those treats at all. Sigh.

I hope you're over the hump, too! I'm kind of going through one myself.

    3. Sigh, back!

I'm not so sure because here I sit! I have two things I'd like to write but I'm distracted so that then hampers my creative thought process. Sigh...again!

  8. Oooh I feel you on that. I can't have a gap of time that THIS IS THE PERFECT TIME TO TO WRITE - but nooooooooo, it comes when I need to be doing something else for my husband/boss and I'm constantly looking over my shoulder and minimizing!

    1. Of course it comes at the less than/im- perfect time! Why not make it easy for us, right? Things seem like a struggle lately and I'm not sure why. Is there a full moon? No, that makes things wild and crazy!

How is that working? Having a husband/boss? I'm not so sure that would work in either direction here.

    2. The "I'm never alone" part is what has been the hardest. It's a new marriage hurtle but we are doing okay. I'm learning to read his mind since he can't remember to tell me what he needs before its critical. He sleeps in until 8:00 most of the time. So the hour from the time Christopher gets on the bus until is critical me time. ;-) I'm going to visit my parents for the long weekend with Christopher so I am looking forward to my "days off".
