Wow, this was powerful. And, I think sad for both of them.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I know. Sad, right?
DeleteOh wow. This seems like a beginning or middle. For you to craft it as an end it excellent writing.
ReplyDeleteIt's a firm ending to a very long and complicated story. Thanks, Lance.
DeleteTotally what I thought, too, Lance. I could see it placed anywhere in a story. I sort of like that it's an end. :)
DeleteThanks ODNT!
DeleteSuch a sad ending. But I agree with the other kids in the pool, it can really be placed anywhere! Nice work.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mags. It could be the beginning but it really is The End.
DeleteVery nicely done.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate it, Jeanna!
DeleteAwww, I read the posts backwards and had to read this one again. No kept reservations? :-( Too be continued I guess.
ReplyDeleteNope, cancelled the reservations! Not to be continued, at least not this story. Maybe there's a sequel to this drama for her.
DeleteSad ending. It feels like they tried, but couldn't find or keep the passion.
ReplyDeleteBelieve me. These two never had a shortage of passion and it oozed out of every pore of their bodies. People noticed them. They were hot for each other for over 30 years. Life decisions and timing got in the way of this fictional couple... or so the story goes.
DeleteA sad but beautifully crafted end
ReplyDeleteThanks, BA!
DeleteAh! I think this really is the end. This time I think she means it. :D
ReplyDeleteShe does mean it. Exclamation point!
DeleteSecond thoughts? Good job!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the character has thoughts and strong feelings about the decision. She made the right one and knows it or at least that's what the author of the story thinks and knows.
DeleteIt's sad, for sure, but true to life. Sometimes things just end. Thanks for linking up with us again. Please come on back tomorrow for the new prompt.
ReplyDeleteYou are right. It is true life and some things are meant to last. Others aren't. Hopefully we can tell the difference between the ones that should and shouldn't.
DeleteAw ... I like to think Gabby is deciding *against* an affair and choosing to fix her marriage. And I think it's always more interesting why people stay together than why they break up.
ReplyDeleteGal, you are very perceptive and right. It is more interesting why people stay together. You know why I think so? It's much harder work.
DeleteI like this a lot! Would love to read the whole story.
ReplyDeleteThanks bunches, Susan!
