Leaping In Head First

A mysterious board washes up.

A little boy of six leaps into the water claiming it.

Determination.

Practice.

Face plants.

Trust and cajones.

The biggest leaps in life take just that, don’t they?

Two Matts doing their thing like it's their job!

It kind of is!

  1. Thanks for reminding us grownups to take a chance once in a while. Also, you've written a nice reminder of the joys of being a parent of a young child.

    1. I see how refreshing and rewarding it is for my kids to take risks. I've become a bit more calculated and don't like it one bit but suppose it's necessary. This kid has cajones (well by nature as well but meant the mental kind) since he was very young. Lots of mistakes he made were lessons. They grow up fast.

    1. He has it in spades, impetuousness. He didn't get it from daddy. I'm pleased to take the credit for this one. Caused me, and him, to learn many life lessons.

  4. Those are great pictures. "Determination, face plants, trust and cajones" - I like that. Yes, all are necesary but getting them all together can be difficult, for me at least :)

    1. Getting them to merge at once, you are correct. Tough to do! The biggest leaps take so much of everything! I'm a decent risk taker but I've also learned a lot from this kid!

  6. Wonderful picture. An important message, too. Lots of discoveries would never have happened if people never took a risk.

    1. Yep! Risk is scary but the yield is incredible...usually. Thank goodness for the leapers!

  7. That is SO awesome. Those pictures are death defying, and I love that the first one came along by chance!

    1. It came along so very by accident. We Sharpie all of our belongings at the lake for that very reason. When the first board floated up in August of that year with no name or pier number, what is there to do? Matt took it up immediately and never looked back. He works at a water sports place that sells them (among other things) so it's totally his life!

    1. The face plants are pretty funny to see and smack. They happen often. He shakes it off pretty good and just goes again. Thanks!

  9. Trust and cajones. I've got one of those types myself. Oh, the places he'll go.
Thanks for linking up again. Hope to see you back for the longer challene.

    1. He just showed me a video on YouTube that he was filmed in for work doing that stuff. Almost gave me a heart attack. He doesn't think twice and that, on occasion, gets him in some pickles. My other one, is a thinker before leaper. Smart girl!
