Sheesh!!!!
Thank God the Cat went to play golf. This Mouse wants some time on her own.
As
I’ve mentioned a zillion times, I’m a recent empty nester. Well, since this
Fall, that is. It’s a marvelous, scary feeling at first. You worry especially for the baby.
On
the other hand, imagine all this free time to do what’s on the top of your
list. For me it’s traveling, reading, writing, cooking, and spending time with
friends. There’s virtually no laundry. Yippee! Most of all, I want to challenge my
fitness level. Those are at the tippy top of a very long list.
During
the week, it’s glorious. I do all those things (to the city counts as travel) and accept invitations for
lunch, etc. I’ve got my world spinning just the way I like it.
Dun,
dun, dun….Then comes the weekend and my role changes a bit. I feel like the ball of
yarn the Cat plays with for 48 hours straight, or so it seems; imagine a
one-person, personal entertainment committee. I used to have some help with the
diversion, the kids for instance, and the Cat was thrilled to play with them as
well. More importantly, I got a break.
For
Pete’s sake, we don’t need to be joined at the hip every moment of the day!
So
when the Cat asked me if I minded that he play golf on this gorgeous day, I
think to myself…Can’t you feel my foot on your rear end giving you a little
nudge?
I've got a busy day planned already!
This was my 5 minute Stream of Consciousness Sunday post. It’s five minutes of your time and a brain dump. Want to try it? Here are the rules…
- Set a timer and write for 5 minutes.
- Write an intro to the post if you want but don’t edit the post. No proofreading or spellchecking. This is writing in the raw.
- Publish it somewhere. Anywhere. The back door to your blog if you want. But make it accessible.
- Add the Stream of Consciousness Sunday badge to your post.
- Link up your post below.
- Visit your fellow bloggers and show some love.
LOL!!!!! Love it. Gina my husband has been home since the middle of January. He has retired 24 years from the Marine Corps. Last week I went escaped to Sam's. I really didn't want to go buy groceries. I would have either like to take a nap in the parking lot or read. When I told him where I as going I was silently thing, please don't want to ride along. Some days its nice but some days I want my day to go exactly as it used to. No with someone staring at the back of my head while I'm trying to write.
ReplyDeleteOh, Kenya. You poor thing but I'm laughing so hard!
DeleteSometimes when I need to run out, I cross my fingers behind my back hoping he won't say he wants to come. I'm not being mean; I just need space! He always, always asks me to come with him so I need a really good reason to say no; I'm pretty creative. If I say that I'm going to workout, he definitely bails.
I hear you on the "staring at the back of of my head while I'm trying to write." That's when I leave the room and hide out in the study.
Funny! Maybe The Cat will realize the fun in going out and playing with other friends and this may become a regular weekend excursion now that the weather is getting better.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
We have just had an extraordinary opportunity to spend three weeks together24/7 so I'm just up to my eyes with it this weekend. We have too much time on our hands. The Cat is an avid golfer who is out three days a week with a game. The weather is getting better so. Basically. I was just venting this morning.
DeleteMeant up to my eye balls. Possibly we're just sick of each other... Surely it's temporary ;-)
DeleteI think it's the same with any married couple, young or old! If you don't spend enough time apart, you'll get sick of each other! Pretty sure my Husband is over my foot pressed against his behind as I shove him out. "Do anything, Go anywhere! Just get OUT!" I can't accomplish much of anything around the house when he's here.
ReplyDeleteIt's different now with the kids at school. Our nights and weekends were always consumed with two sports seasons for my daughter, fall and spring, and one very long one for my son, late fall through winter. We happily spent lots of bleacher time for so many years.
DeleteIt all happens so fast. You hope you married the right person to begin with because it goes back to just the two of you again. Although, we have lots of friends in the same boat so that's fun.
You need to like each other a lot then since you aren't newlyweds anymore. Although, your hubby would like to think you are.
My husband works from home, as do I, and I have to admit that some days when he travels, I'm a little thrilled to have the house to myself!
