This story is a personal historical fiction and written for this
weekend’s Trifecta Writing Challenge prompt. We are to provide a complete story in just three sentences. It's about creating something thrilling and engaging and whole
in just a tiny amount of space. There is no word limit, but you should
aim for brevity. Thank goodness "sentence" is defined loosely. I didn't think I'd have time to do this but it spilled right out. So let's just see how this goes...
I know where you are, and always have since you were 20; even though we haven’t spoken in a decade and you’ve been a moving target in a big city.
Do you realize I’m where I’ve always been with the same
address, same phone number as the last time you called, paused on the line with a song playing in the background then hung up?
Oh, intriguing. You say so much with so little at all. It evokes many possibilities of what this relationship once was.
ReplyDeleteI quite enjoyed this
Its about two people who never quite let go and have always been on the verge of starting something all over again if the opportunity presented it's self...or if one of them created the opportunity.
DeleteAn old friend? A stalker? I can't decide.
ReplyDeleteCame from the Trifecta link.
Old lovers that never closed the door completely and what might happen if one of them decided to reach out to the other. Would something come of it? Thanks for visiting.
DeleteAhhh yes, I see it. I see it. :)
DeleteOh good. I got creeped out a bit that I was communicating stalker. Thanks!!!
DeleteI just recently looked up my first boyfriend and emailed him. Of course our relationship was/is different but it has that "what if" feel to it.
ReplyDeleteSounds exciting, Satu. Was the response from him positive? I hope so. All the "what ifs" that remain unknown if no one acts on it. Wish I had an email. I would have to go the old fashioned route, telephone, but now there's Caller ID!
DeleteI like this piece! very intriguing, I want to know more!
ReplyDeletebest,
MOV
Don't think there will be an end to this story. Thanks for coming by MOV!
DeleteAn intriguing story told here.
ReplyDeletePamela
Thanks, Pamela!
DeleteMy favorite line was "and you’ve been a moving target in a big city." This sounds like it was an edgy relationship to begin with, and now it's lost everything but the longing.
ReplyDeleteThat's about right. Nothing really to do when both are married to others. I'm sure they would both like to know how the other is doing and where life has taken them.
DeleteI've got to lay off the romance novels. It's softening my brain. Today! Then must move onto something more mentally stimulating!
Wow! You fit a lot of lingering emotions into these sentences. Very well captured!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Mags!
Deleteooooh yeah. i've lived this story, too. thank you for sharing that you get it. *HUG*
ReplyDeleteJenna,
DeleteThanks for being in the know.
Gina
Very nice. I'd love to read more of this.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly,
DeleteIf and when there is more to this story, I will, for sure write about it here. This is my safe place to write where no one knows!
Thanks for joining up again, Gina. I always want to answer your question at the top of the page by saying that yes, we do care what you write and that we enjoy it! I agree with the comments above -- this piece is very intriguing and I'd love to see where it goes from here. Hope you'll join us again for the weekday challenge.
ReplyDeleteThanks Trifecta. The title of my blog is for me. It helps me pretend no one is reading so I won't think about it when I write.
DeleteLove the challenges...some brain stretchers and they're fun.
