A mermaid found a swimming lad,
Picked him for her own,
Pressed her body to his body,
Laughed: and plunging down
Forgot in cruel happiness
That even lovers drown.
William Butler Yeats

Awesome. I've never read this. Twenty-nine words.
Yeats knew women can be cruel, even fish ladies. ;)
I hadn't either! Saw it the other day and it stuck with me. I love short stuff. Velvet Verbosity's 100-word prompt is coming back and I can't wait!
People can be cruel. It is not gender specific ;-). At work now, have a little time to read then must don the mermaid outfit to swim with the fish!
Gender specific is far more fun. :)
